Smoke Control

The importance of smoke control cannot be under‐estimated. The Contemporary doorset is successfully tested in full scale smoke tests to EN1634‐3:2004 at an independent UKAS accredited test laboratory. Tests cover wide glazed side screens and panels as well as large glazed fanlights.

The greenfire™ glazing used in the Contemporary range offers good properties to assist with smoke control. When exposed to fire the internal structure of the glazing turns opaque and expands to form a heat shield effectively reducing the transmission of radiated and conducted heat and provides an integrity barrier against smoke flames and hot toxic gases for 30 minutes.

Internal structure of glazing turns opaque and expands to form heat shield. The internal core of the doorset comprises mineral wool which has natural occurring fire resistant qualities and no toxic smoke is given off from this material in the event of a fire.
