Flat Entrance Doorset Design

“unrivalled durability and stability”

The Contemporary flat entrance / apartment doorset comprises a timber and mineral wool internal core and a galvanised steel external surround with a foil coated veneer or paint finish. The door is engineered to be stable and to prevent bowing. The foil coating is UV resistant. The internal composition of the door leaf gives the door perfect acoustic and insulation properties. Importantly the natural mineral wool offers unrivalled durability. It won’t shrink, move or crumble. This is important for both the lifetime of the door but also in the event of fire the doorset structure is stable. The exterior offers good protection against scratching and is easy to keep clean.

Glazed Doorsets

The doorset design contains innovative glazing in an argon filled double glazed unit comprising glass specifically designed to withstand fire together with a high level of security, exceeding Secured by Design, whilst providing excellent acoustics and thermal insulation. This SBD glazed fire doorset design is fully tested and certified for fire and security.

The double glazed unit within the doorset and any fanlights or sidelights is designed and tested within the doorset for fire resistance from both sides for 30 minutes. The doorsets actually exceed 30 minutes in the fire tests.

During this time it is able to withstand fire exposure without the transmission of fire to the non-fire side which occurs as a result of the passage of flames and hot gases which cause ignition of the non-fire exposed surface or adjacent materials.

The DGU is CE marked for fire resistance, offers attack resistance to EN356 P2A for security, meets glazing safety standards: EN 12600, and offers UV protection.  It is available in clear or obscure finishes.

Secured by Design (SBD) call for glazing to be certified to EN356 attack resistance standard to P1A minimum.

Design for Accessibility

“important not just now, but for the future”

The Contemporary Doorset range is able to be tailored to fit entrance openings both in new build and in existing buildings.

Gerda understands that the accessibility of homes is important for the lifetime of their inhabitants. The frame system is designed to maximise clear openings. The design of the locking systems and handlesets facilitates ease of use. Gerda has developed innovative options for accessibility, working with our customers to ensure we fulfill their needs:

  • Wide angle door viewers and the option of dual height

  • Locking systems with user friendly handlsets where the handle does not need to be lifted or pressure applied to use

  • Low profile thresholds for both externally sited balcony doorsets and internally sited doorsets, tested in the Contemporary doorset primary full scale doorset tests.
