The location of the doorset has a bearing on the type and fire rating required. If the doorset forms part of a firefighting area, it may be that the compartmentation requirements are for a one hour as opposed to a half hour doorset.

A fire doorset in a care home may require good acoustics and features to cater for the partially sighted or considerations for wheelchair users. There may be requirements for magnetic locks. Often doorsets vary in size or there may be specific trunking to be catered for in the side screens.

All these features can be factored into the design of your doorset and a detailed survey will highlight any points that need addressing.

The FDS Complete Range is successfully tested to the acoustics standard EN ISO 10140-2 at an independent UKAS accredited test house. This is for single and double doorsets for both half hour fire rated and one hour fire rated options.

Gerda’s investment into bespoke software has led to enhancements in surveying and manufacturing processes. Dimensions and data are automatically cross-checked throughout the ordering system so that doorsets meet part M and the scope within Gerda’s extensive fire test remit.
