Gerda in the Community

Gerda in the community

Our involvement in localities, from community events to apprenticeship developments, reflects our ethos.

We have run apprenticeship and training schemes where apprentices learn manufacturing and installation skills for the correct fitting of fire doorsets. The schemes run over a number of years and we are proud that the apprentices have gone on to practise their skills and knowledge in the workplace.

Gerda is the proud sponsor of the England Fire & Rescue Service Football Team. Annual matches are played against the Army, Navy and RAF, as well as the Scotland and Wales Fire & Rescue Service Teams. Community events include venues around the country: Altrincham, Manchester; Ludlow, Shropshire; Lincolnshire and Manchester City Training Ground. This gives the opportunity for local schools to participate in training from the players and find out about their local fire service.

Gerda supports local initiatives: the wildlife scheme in Camden and Bury St Edmonds junior hockey team who recently ranked as one of the top ten teams in England, as well as the Safe4kids scheme.

National sponsorship includes the Head and Neck Cancer Trust - raising monies through vintage car rallies and raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity.
