Technical

Specifying the correct type of fire safety & security products for buildings is about assessing the risks in the built environment and providing a product that will meet your requirements. At Gerda, we recognise that these needs can be challenging and we work with our customers to provide a sustainable solution for the long  term.

Gerda designs and manufactures its product ranges, which are subject to extensive third party UKAS accredited testing. Depending on the product type, this can range from a series of tests for the ‘complete product’ , ie as it would feature within a building,  within the following categories:

Fire:  Tests to BS476 part 22 1987 or EN1634-1 with specific tests for one hour or half hour

Smoke:  Tests to EN1634:-3:2004

Acoustics: Tests to EN ISO 10077-2:2005

Security: Tests to BS3621:2007; BS8621:2007; BS10621:2007; PAS24, EN1627, LPS1175

Weather: Tests to BS6375-1; BS6375-2; PAS23; BBA testing

Thermal Insulation: Tests to EN ISO 1014-2:2010

"Meeting and frequently exceeding industry requirements, Gerda is able to draw on its wide range of primary test evidence to accommodate custom development and to innovate."

This is especially critical for fire doors in compartmentation.  When doors and screens are surveyed, the product designed and manufactured to suit the buildings structure must comply for fire and for smoke within the test remit.

Importantly a clear audit trail is provided for the customer’s building which links back to the primary test evidence.

This is further substantiated through the ISO9000 management system and UKAS accredited product certification schemes.

We believe we combine superbly engineered products with excellent customer service. Our long-term relationship with the Fire & Rescue and Police Services has allowed us to innovate and create leading edge solutions.

Compartmentation

Compartmentation

Compartmentation is an important part of the passive system within the overall fire safety system of a building. The fire safety system of a building must be suited to the function of a building; the activities carried out in that building and the number, nature and physical abilities of the people who occupy or use the building. The three main components of a fire safety system comprise passive safety, active safety and management systems.

Installation

Installation

A complete service is available for the survey, manufacture and delivery of products. We offer a high quality installation service directly or through approved partners.

Gerda conducts in-house training to impart why the correct installation is important in the context of fire safety legislation. This is a rigorous three-day course involving theory and in-depth practical training on-site with detailed visual instructions and qualified trainers, culminating in the issue of certificates for those who successfully complete the programme. For further information please visit the Products & Services section.

Maintenance

Maintenance

Gerda® offers comprehensive maintenance services with a range of options. Our maintenance programme, which ensures the longevity of the product, can be linked to your fire risk assessment schedule.

There is a real benefit in this option, rather than going to third parties, particularly as Gerda has designed and developed the product range. For further information please visit Products & Services section or download a brochure.
