Gerda Security is at the forefront of innovation, with product design incorporating solutions to assist residents in the 21st Century living environment. Small details matter like quiet closure, improved insulation to conserve energy, reduced sound transmission and proven design for longevity.

We invest significantly into doorset range design to offer an extensive library of primary-owned test evidence at UKAS test houses. This assists contractors, landlords and specifiers with their responsibilities under the Building Safety regime for both refurbishment and new build projects.

Our innovation includes digital traceability of each doorset from survey, where it is allocated a unique identifier through to manufacture, installation, repair & maintenance.

Each doorset range is optimised to offer sustainability and genuine value.

Petticoat Tower

Petticoat Tower

Petticoat Tower stands as the centrepiece of the Middlesex Street Estate, a housing development in Aldgate on the eastern edge of the City of London.

Built between 1965 and 1970 by the Corporation of London, Petticoat Tower is a striking 23-storey, with 88 apartments. Throughout the project Gerda Security worked with COL and careful planning minimized disruption to residents and preserved the tower’s architectural integrity.

The new doorsets improved fire resistance, energy efficiency, and resident comfort. A key aim for this project, was to prioritise both safety and heritage. This was achieved through the Dual-certified timber engineered doorsets, the Safer Homes Range™.

Secured by Design for fire resistance and enhanced security, these doorsets had also undergone full-scale smoke control tests, as well as thermal transmittance, acoustics & operational durability. Tailored to size and precision – manufactured in Suffolk.

City Of London

City Of London

Gerda Security Products collaborated with the City of London Corporation to replace 692 doorsets across Holloway Estate and York Way Estate, enhancing safety and aesthetics.

Their installation included tailored fire doorsets meeting stringent standards, such as FD60S internal one-hour fire-rated flat entrance doorsets and E60 EI30 one-hour external fire-rated flat entrance doorsets. Close coordination ensured compliance with listed building regulations.

The phased approach and effective communication minimized disruption, with special provisions made for residents with disabilities, including wheelchair-friendly automatic entry systems.

Resident satisfaction reached an impressive 99.6%, reflecting the project’s success in meeting safety and aesthetic objectives. This collaboration highlights the importance of contractor-client partnership in creating safe and visually appealing living environments within historic estates.

Trellick Tower

Trellick Tower

Gerda Security Products partnered with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) and planning consultants Litchfield to overcome regulatory hurdles for the Fire Door Replacement Programme at Trellick Tower.

Despite the tower’s Grade II* listed status, Gerda Security’s solution not only met but exceeded building regulations while preserving the tower’s iconic features.

Through meticulous planning and design, over 180 resident front entrance doorsets were successfully replaced, addressing fire safety concerns while enhancing energy efficiency and resident comfort.

With months of meticulous planning alongside RBKC and the Trellick Tower Residents Association this collaborative effort underscores the importance of maintaining safety and preserving architectural heritage in historic buildings.

Luton Borough Council

Luton Borough Council

Luton Borough Council enlisted Gerda Security for their high performance FDS Complete range of communal doorsets for their corridors, stairwell, and lobby areas.
The range offers one hour and 30 minutes options in double doorsets as well as single, with a selection of frame configurations.

Extensively tested for fire resistance, smoke leakage and acoustics, this high performance third-party certified range not only addresses fire safety compliance, but also longevity through its robust design features.

These features including overhead concealed door closers and drop-down smoke seals as standard, were reasons why the doorsets were specified, along with the UK manufacturing facility and the comprehensive training programme offered to installers.

The project resulted in reduced disruptive behaviour affecting the doorsets which in turn assisted in cost savings in maintenance and repairs.
