Standard Premises Information Box™(PIB)® System

The history of the Premises Information Box initiative lies in the design and development of the system with the Fire Engineering Group of London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority Community Safety Department.   In the early phases of any fire or emergency, the Incident Commander must make quick decisions on how best to bring an incident under control.   The effective provision of information to the Fire Service can enhance their response plan.

The Standard Premises Information Box™ (PIB)® offers a high level of security and is accompanied by  the Emergency Response Pack Guidance Manual – a comprehensive guide, put together by leading professionals in fire safety,  on how to most effectively populate your plans and information so that attending fire crews can readily assimilate the information.

The presence of the PIBs greatly increases the safety of both the operational personnel and that of the residents at these difficult incidents...having the information gathered within, immediately available for the use of the Incident Commander."

Key Features

"If a building has not been built to conform to the provisions of Approved Document B, then will the fire brigade know what to expect when they arrive to fight a fire? It is now essential that protocols are developed to ensure that operational firefighters know about the design and fire safety peculiarities…."

"Luminus are currently using 11 Premise Information Boxes, 1 at our largest block of flats in Essex, 1 on a large housing development of blocks of flats in Cambridge managed by ourselves and 9 in our sheltered schemes. The service provided was excellent and the Premise Information Boxes provide a secure, recognisable focal point to provide the fire service with up to date relevant information on access, fixed fire fighting systems and specific customer needs. The Boxes have been welcomed by the Fire Services in the Brigade areas in which they have been provided. Gary Pyle - Fire Risk Assessor - Luminus Group"

"Stevenage Borough Council has fitted the PIBs in five high rise blocks and 18 sheltered blocks. The PIBs allow us to contain all necessary and vital information in one place. In the event of an emergency every aspect, detail (e.g. floor plan, gas outlets, firefighting equipment), at risk tenant information and access codes or keys can be accessed with efficiency and speed. As a Council we take our obligations and responsibilities very seriously and consult with the Fire and Rescue Services on regular basis. It was through one of those consultations that we agreed to install the PIBs. "
